Dr. Fernandez is Founder & Managing Partner of DreamCatcher Ventures based in San Francisco, CA that works with entrepreneurs and investors and provides advisory services to academic Universities, federally funded initiatives, accelerators, and start-ups/companies in the Life science, Biotech and Healthcare sectors. She is appointed by the U.S. Department of State and currently serves on the Board of the United States-India Science and Technology Endowment Fund.
Dr Fernandez has over 25 years of experience in the commercialization of innovation with her experience and expertise spanning across technology and finance. She spent over twenty years as a venture capitalist initially with a $1.5B healthcare fund investing right across the life science spectrum and subsequently with angel investor groups and Biomed, a seed stage fund. She has extensive experience working with companies in the healthcare sector from seed stage to publicly listed companies. In addition to the U.S., she has working in several international markets including India, Poland, Europe, Israel, Scandinavia, and has successfully combined science and business to build and scale businesses through a rigorous scientific and market analysis of technologies/products, incorporation of sustainable business models and a strong focus on company value creation.
Dr Fernandez secured her doctorate at the Cancer Research Institute, India, having been awarded the Indo-US scholarship from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and her post-doctorate at the National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health, USA. She also serves as an expert reviewer, mentor and business advisor to several commercialization programs across the U.S. that focus on the translation of enabling technologies into commercially relevant products.
