Florian Jaeckle is the Chief Technology Officer at Lyzeum Ltd, Cambridge, UK and a Visiting Researcher at the University of Cambridge and Research Fellow at Hughes Hall Cambridge. Lyzeum is a pioneering healthcare start-up based in Cambridge which specialises in developing explainable and trustworthy Machine Learning solutions for diagnosing duodenal biopsies, with a particular emphasis on coeliac disease. Florian also collaborates with the Department of Pathology at the University of Cambridge as a visiting postdoctoral researcher with Professor Elizabeth Soilleux, enhancing his contributions to open source medical AI. Previously, Florian was part of Apple’s AI team, where he developed innovative methods to update existing machine learning models, aiming to decrease biases across AI applications. He completed his PhD in Machine Learning at the University of Oxford, where he explored robustness and transparency in AI algorithms, specifically studying how minor, undetectable changes to images can mislead common machine learning algorithms.
